Five months. Five major milestones. One company that keeps moving forward.
Most early-stage biotech companies spend years telling investors what they're going to do. Conexeu Sciences (Nasdaq: CNXU) has been busy doing it.
Since its Nasdaq debut in May, Conexeu has launched new research programs, reported promising preclinical results, advanced manufacturing, and secured $5 million in fresh capital with management participation.
Now the company is approaching what could be its most consequential milestone yet: its targeted first FDA submission in Q1 2027.
The train is preparing to leave the station. The milestones are coming. And the next few months could be the most important stretch of the journey yet.
See what's already been accomplished, what's coming next, and why the next few months could be pivotal for CNXU.
See the full catalyst calendar ↓Today CNXU is valued as a preclinical, pre-revenue company, and the market discounts it for that. A 510(k) clearance would change the category: a cleared device, a path to wound-care sales, and a regulatory foundation for everything else on the platform. Each step that lands removes a reason for the discount. Each step that slips adds one. The next 18 months are full of these steps.
Dates in green are completed. Dates in gold are company targets, and none of them is guaranteed.
CNXU began trading on Nasdaq, opening the company to public capital to fund its regulatory program.5
Six days after listing, Conexeu started a preclinical program at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine for B.R.E.A.S.T.™, a 3D-printed, resorbable breast matrix built on the same CXU™ platform. It is being developed as a potential alternative to permanent breast implants in reconstruction.16
Conexeu reported that its 12-month preclinical P.R.O.O.F. study (Performance and Regeneration Outcomes of Flowable Collagen) met its objectives across facial, large-volume and mechanical-performance pillars. Detailed results haven't been released yet, and the data have not been peer-reviewed.17
Conexeu reported that multiple scaled-up batches of CXU™ material met predefined company specifications, and that biocompatibility, chemical characterization and performance testing for the 510(k) package is underway.1
The financing was led by existing shareholders, management and directors, including the CEO. Proceeds are earmarked for manufacturing scale-up, regulatory testing and preclinical work toward the planned submission.2
Conexeu's lead wound-care device candidate goes to the FDA through the predicate-based 510(k) pathway. This pathway is generally shorter than the PMA route, which typically requires multi-year clinical trials.1,3
Conexeu has said it plans to present the P.R.O.O.F. results scientifically and submit them for peer-reviewed publication, with large-volume details in a later release.17
The FDA's goal is to decide on a 510(k) within 90 review days. The clock pauses whenever the agency asks for more information, which is common. Clearance is not assured.3 If the device is cleared, Conexeu plans to begin U.S. and Canadian wound-care commercialization.6
Veterinary wound care doesn't require FDA clearance, so it is planned alongside manufacturing scale-up.6
The plan is to use a cleared CXU™ device as its own predicate for soft-tissue and gum indications in dentistry.6
Building on the P.R.O.O.F. data, a human-collagen version (CXU-H) is being developed for facial and body volume restoration. It would require the longer PMA pathway. The company has described this as a potential regenerative category in a market reshaped by GLP-1 weight-loss drugs.4,6,17
These companies weren't at CNXU's stage. Allergan and Evolus sold drugs, while ZELTIQ, like Conexeu, built its business on an FDA-cleared device. Their history shows how much value the market can assign once a regulatory hurdle is cleared and a product reaches patients.
Botox generated about $3.6B in 2018 sales, with $1.55B from cosmetic use. An aesthetics franchise built over decades helped anchor one of the largest pharma deals of the decade.7
Jeuveau was approved on February 1, 2019, after an earlier FDA rejection. Shares had traded as low as $10.22 in December and reached $28.50 within a week of the approval.8,9
CoolSculpting, a non-surgical fat-reduction device, reached the market through FDA clearance, the same kind of device route Conexeu is taking for its lead product. By 2017 it had more than 5,700 systems installed in over 80 countries, and Allergan bought the company for $2.47 billion in cash.10,11
These are established, revenue-generating companies in the advanced wound-care market Conexeu plans to enter first. This is the category CNXU would be joining if its device is cleared. Today CNXU has no revenue and no cleared product, so this table shows where the category is valued. It is not a price target.
| Company | Stage | Focus | Approx. market cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| MiMedx Group (MDXG) | Commercial, profitable | Placental-tissue wound care and skin substitutes | ~$590M12 |
| Organogenesis (ORGO) | Commercial, ~$150M quarterly revenue | Regenerative wound care and skin substitutes | ~$290M13,14 |
| Evolus (EOLS) | Commercial, aesthetics | Neurotoxin and dermal fillers | ~$520M–$880M15 |
| Conexeu Sciences (CNXU) | Preclinical, pre-revenue | Flowable thermosensitive ECM scaffold, multi-indication | ~$87M18 |
Market caps are approximate and change daily. CNXU's figure is as of Oct. 30, 2026. Peer figures are taken from third-party data as of spring/summer 2026. Refresh all figures from a live source before distribution. Past performance of other companies does not predict CNXU's results.
Early-stage companies are easy to promise and hard to execute. Here is what Conexeu has actually announced and delivered in the five months since it listed.
Dates are 2026 unless noted. Sources: company press releases.1,2,5,16,17
Most preclinical stories offer "someday." Conexeu has publicly committed to a quarter for its first FDA submission, and clearance would turn it into a commercial-stage company.1,2
One platform now sits behind wound care, the P.R.O.O.F. aesthetics data and the B.R.E.A.S.T.™ program, each with its own next step.1,16,17
The October financing was led by existing holders and management, months before the filing.2
